01.07.2009 My estimated lifetime riskI’ve got the test results back from my genetic analysis. Hmmmmmm … 04.06.2009 山頭火It’s no secret that I love ramen. While it’s obvious that there are many great ramen bars in Japan, Hong Kong has surprisingly few that are from the top shelf…that is, until 山頭火 showed up inside of JUSCO@Kornhill. They specialize in miso based broth, and their spicy offering was particularly well done. Note: it is not cheap; the below cost HKD100 at lunchtime. 01.01.2009 What I thought I knew about myself in 2008 (and also what I didn’t know)I never considered myself to be a frequent flyer, but TripIT seems to think that I travel a reasonable amount. My travel stats for 2008 (holy cow, 65 days OTR): On the other hand, I know that I spend a lot of time listening to music. According to zune.net I’ve racked up over 10000 plays in the last 12 months: My love of music is also confirmed by some of my spending patterns (lots of HMV, Zune, etc). Oh yeah, I love WoW and reading magazines too (Eastside Daily Planet is a news stand) My overall spending for 2008 came to $71,702. While this is still under control, I will definitely do better in 2009. Let’s check back in 12 months! I’m a bit of a guts. I had no idea that I visited Macca’s 32 times. At least I spend less on gas that most people in Seattle:
Stuff for 2009:
26.12.2008 A genetic testing service…Have been thinking about my health a bit lately, because I want to my body to be at its peak for another big year ahead. I know that I’m underperforming right now. Stumbled upon a lab called Navigenics that offers a service to “scan your whole genome” that “captures data on 1.8 million of your genetic risk markers”. After taking a DNA sample from me, I’ll be able to see my estimated lifetime risk for a variety of conditions: Here are some shots of the testing kit:
3. Think of something yummy (mmm…organic foods…NOT!), then spit in the tube (all the way to the black line) 4. Screw the blue lid on so that the “Oragene•DNA liquid” mixes with the sample 5. Then prepare the final sample for shipping 6. Wait around for about two months for results to come out |
